States
Designer
Use the control's States property to assign state names at design time. States let a theme vary a control's appearance without requiring separate control classes.
Change Programmatically
Update the States property when application conditions change. Custom state names are useful for application-specific visual distinctions, such as highlighting a record that needs attention.
Styling
Define the styling for each state in the control's theme appearance. Assigning a custom state name alone does not define its colors or borders; the theme must supply those styles. See Theming.
